Developing spirituality
As Unitarian Universalists, we affirm an approach to life that encourages openness and questioning. We believe that the development of spirituality is a journey that draws upon experience and reflection. Rather than calling upon certainties, we encourage each person to engage in life to the fullest of our capabilities.
Who are the Unitarian Universalists of Riderwood?
Some among us are long-time members of Unitarian Universalist congregations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Some are members of UU churches in other parts of the nation. Others are new to Unitarian Universalist involvement. Still others have chosen to participate in our community because, as one person put it, “I like the people!” We welcome all who find something here that sustains them.
Unitarian Universalists meet in the Chapel the third Thursday each month. This 1:00 p.m. gathering may be led by a local minister or an active lay leader.
Chaplain Rev. Ashley Burczak is the chaplain to the Unitarian Universalists of Riderwood Village. Ashley holds a B.A. in Comparative Religion from Barnard College, Columbia University and a Master of Divinity in Ecumenical Studies from Union Theological Seminary in New York. She was ordained on June 8, 2019 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring.
Activities We Sponsor
A chapel service is help the third Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m.In the Riderwood Chapel. These services are varied and might involve a presentation given by our chaplain, the Rev. Adult education programs are presented by our chaplain and other member of our community. We also sponsor occasional programs for the larger Riderwood community.
